In summer 2003 Alessandro Scarati and Alessandro Formenti, two musicians coming from the rock underground scene of two different cities, Turin and Milan, decide to give birth to a new musical project. In the beginning, they call their project “Alea”: their aim is to create a very personal kind of pop-rock music in which vocal harmonies should be in first place. They start composing their songs in the months of july and august and record the first demo-cd after a little while at the Rainbow Music studio in Turin, with sound engineer Stefano Malacarne. Thanks to that product, Videoradio Records, a label from Alessandria, shows great interest in the project and give Alea the opportunity to publish their first full-lenght album: “sogni da un cassetto”, which sees the light in october 2004. The album is recorded at Rainbow Music too and from this moment on Stefano Malacarne becomes part of the project; in the same period Alea are endorsed by Wisy production, a new italian street-wear brand. “Sogni da un cassetto” has good selling results and is the starting point for a new experience: during gigs, the duo realize that something’s still missing to their music...a real band! In september 2005 the band is ready and the musicians decide to change their name in DISTRAZIONE with the following line up: Alessandro Scarati (lead vocals and keyboards), Alessandro formenti (vocals and acoustic guitar), Giorgio Masino (bass guitar), Lele Bertazzoni (drums) and Stefano Malacarne (electric guitar). Stefano also becomes the band’s producer, together with manager and art director Marco Chiappetta.
